Five players leave RCD Espanyol
Melamed, Bare, Gil, Ruiz and Balde all depart the club
The planning for the 2024/25 season has begun with both the announcement that Manolo González will continue to as coach and the confirmation of several departures. Nico Melamed, Keidi Bare, Óscar Gil, Víctor Ruiz and Keita Balde will all leave the club this summer.
Melamed, Bare, Gil and Ruiz are out of contract, while Balde will return to Spartak Moscow after finishing his loan spell.
Melamed puts an end to his time at RCD Espanyol after having played 137 games for the first team. These have been in the Primera División (69), Segunda División (59), Copa del Rey (9) and Europa League (1). The midfielder joined the youth ranks in 2013 and made his debut with the first team in the qualifying stage of the Europa League against Lucerne, becoming the first youth player born in the 21st century to play for the senior side.
Gil arrived at RCD Espanyol for the 2020/21 season after an excellent campaign with Elche. An Olympic medalist in Tokyo and a full international, he played 114 official matches for the first team.
Bare arrived from Real Málaga the same year, and the Albanian midfielder has participated in 119 games.
Ruiz ends his second spell at RCD Espanyol. The centre back, who arrived in September to provide experience to the defence, has played 16 official matches in this time.
Balde departs after participating in 24 games on loan.
The club thank all of these players for their committment and wish them all the best for the future.
