Expósito: "I'm looking forward to representing this club"
The first words from the new signing
Edu Expósito completed his first training session as an RCD Espanyol player on Tuesday morning, following which he was officially presented to the fans and media.
Speaking at his presentation, the Spaniard said that “I'm ready for whatever the coaching staff need. I'm looking forward to representing this club and to starting the LaLiga season."
Expósito explained that, despite having received several offers from other clubs, "as soon as I was told that Espanyol might be anoption, that's when I decided that I wanted to come here, that there was nothing else that interested me."
"I had a very good year in the Segunda Division with Éibar. We just missed out on promotion, but on a personal and collective level it was a very good season. Thanks to that, I'm here now."
He also recalled that former Eibar coach José Luis Mendiíbar “was a coach under whom I learned to defend, to press, to run with sacrifice and good sense. That is something that is similar to what Diego Martínez will ask of us at Espanyol."
The club's sporting director, Domingo Catoira, stated that “Edu Expósito comes here to strengthen the midfield and provide us with things that make a difference. He has a great personality and brings together the values we need.”
Finally, Mao Ye, CEO of the club, welcomed him to the RCDE Stadium, saying "we hope you are a player who contributes a lot for us."
