Espanyol B fall in season opener
The team lose 1-2 at home
Espanyol B lost 1-2 to UE Sant Andreu in their opening game of the season, conceding in the 90th minute of the contest.
Los Pericos came out strong, taking the lead in the 13th minute with a goal from their new number 10, Miguel Carvalho. The Under-19s European Championship winner took advantage of a second ball to open the scoring.
Mingo looked to have scored a second goal, but a harsh offside call was given against him to rule out the effort.
In the second half things levelled out, but the first team to provide danger were Espanyol B, with a shot from Almansa that crashed into the side netting.
A second goal disallowed for another very close offside meant that the advantage remained slim, and UE Sant Andreu equalised off a stray clearance following a great save from Llorenç Serred.
With half an hour left, the game changed completely. Both teams were looking for a killer blow and, in the final stretch, UE Sant Andreu snatched a winning goal in the 90th minute.
