Darder: "The team are aware of the potential that we have"
The midfielder looks ahead to Saturday's game against Getafe
Sergi Darder has not forgotten last Sunday's match away to Villarreal, as he and the rest of the RCD Espanyol squad have had several days in which to reflect on the defeat.
Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday, the midfielder admitted that "the moments after the match were very hard. No one wanted to lose."
Darder also acknowledged the criticism received from the fans, responding that "the starting XI deserved it," and looked ahead to this weekend's big game against Getafe -a chance to make amends and get back to winning ways.
“We haven't been able to win lately, but I look at the standings and I see that there are twelve games left, with everything still to be defined. We have an exciting end to the season ahead, and I am optimistic. I think that within the team we are aware of the potential that we have. This Saturday's game is very important. It's not a final because there's a long way to go, but by winning we'll be able to look forward. There are many teams separated by few points. What we have to do is win on Saturday," he commented.
"We have the desire to get back to feeling at our best. The team will give everything to achieve victory. It is a very important match, in front of our home fans. We want to show everyone -ourselves included- that we can have a good rest of the season."
