Confidence and improvement
Gerard Moreno points out that the team hasn’t lost in the last six matches
Gerard Moreno scored in front Alavés the goal that gave Espanyol the three points. The Catalan striker said that it was an important victory. “We needed the victory. It is a goal that gives me confidence and breaks a bad spell of matches, and it is also a goal that will increase the team confidence and that has to be useful for us to improve and makes us face the next matches with more confidence”, he said.
The Catalan said that “missing the penalty was tough for me and if we hadn’t won I had gone home vey depressed. Hopefully I was able to connect the corner kick, score and help the team to achieve a victory. The team’s reaction was spectacular after missing the penalty that was tough for us, because it was a great chance to get ahead in the scoreboard. Afterwards we had three corner kicks, we kept attacking and we scored in the end”.
Gerard said that he is feeling well and that “the staff and players give confidence and I play with tranquillity. I always tried to help my teammates in everything I can and if I can score goals that help the team to add three points, the better”.
The Catalan striker has also given much value to the six games without losing. "We have been able to win two away games and now we have to get our people to enjoy victories in our ground. It is an important fact, which invites optimism and we have to continue to support it. We have to improve what we are not doing well and strengthen what we are doing well", he said. One aspect that should improve the team is our performance as home team. "It is true that away we are finding ourselves very well and we are the third best team in the league, but we want to be very strong at home and we want to keep all three points at home. The goal is to enjoy a strong Espanyol at home".
Gerard has stressed that the goal "is to finish as high as possible. We are on the right track, we have to keep working and try to improve. The goal is to try to be a better team and if we continue like this, we will achieve the goal".
