Carreras: "This is the best place to grow"

The newly renewed striker talks about his contract extension

As the squad return to preparations for LaLiga action this weekend, Jofre Carreras spoke to the media on Monday about his recent contract extension.

The forward acknowledged that the whole process was straightforward, stating that “it didn't take long at all to agree; both the club and I are going in the same direction. This is the best place to grow. My feeling towards the club is of absolute dedication. I have been here all my life and I feel it as if it were my home. Coming from the youth setup, from La21, my breakout is a turning point for those who are coming up now. It is the best thing for my career and my future”.

Carreras added that some recent hard times on a personal level have made him “give more importance to certain things. I know that I am not alone. And now I am a more mature Jofre, more aware of where I am, a better player than I was a year ago."

Now focused on the next LaLiga game, he commented that “after three weeks without a game, we want to compete again. I said it the other day: We have to accept our situation and not panic. This is a long season and we have a very demanding month ahead of us. We have to get points and turn the situation around, but there is still a long way to go in LaLiga. There are a lot of points to play for. We are facing this match prepared. We are very eager and we have to go for the three points.”
