Cardona: "These two weeks off will help us to get to know each other better"
The striker speaks about his adaptation to the club
RCD Espanyol striker Irvin Cardona is making a swift adaptation to the club. He arrived in the summer break and has worked hard to gel with his teammates and contribute to the side in the opening four games, and he spoke about the process during the international break.
“I feel very good and I have the possibility of playing in any attacking position. For me, that is perfect, because I have freedom when I play,” he said.
“These two weeks off will help us to get to know each other better, because there are a lot of new people.”
“This is a legendary club and that is noticeable on the pitch,” he insisted, before talking through his contribution to the winning goal last time out against Rayo Vallecano.
“I thought I could score, but the goalkeeper made a great save from my shot. In the end it was Veliz who turned the ball in, and for me that is the most important thing: That we were able to win.”
“I am a competitive player,” he insisted. “I want to score goals, but assists are also important to me. I haven't been able to score yet, although I have had chances, but what counts is that we won."
Finally, he also attached great importance to the four points the team have on the board already.
“There were no easy opponents. Now we are already working on the next match. We have to take it game-by-game. I can't say if we will finish tenth or in what position we will conclude the season. We have to keep going and look at every match separately.”
