Calero: "Everything has come together for me"
The RCD Espanyol player reflects on his best form of the campaign
RCD Espanyol play a Matchday 32 fixture against Atletico Madrid this Sunday, travelling to the Wanda Metropolitano. Victory last time out against Celta Vigo took the club closer to mathematical safety, but player Fernando Calero warns that the objective has not been reached just yet.
"Nothing is done yet, and we always want to push for more. Personally, I want to finish as high up the table as possible, and my teammates do too," he told RCD Espanyol TV this week.
Calero also talked about the current form the team are in.
"We've had some great games where we didn't get the victory, for example, against Barça and Sevilla at home. We had a bad time after the defeat against Villarreal CF, but we were able to recover thanks to the effort and attitude of the team", he highlighted.
"This is a difficult week, but you approach it better after a victory. We're all very happy after last weekend's game. Now, we will focus on the next game with the same enthusiasm as always, and with the intention of doing the best we can to get the three points."
As for his own showings, which have included a run of five consecutive starts, Calero commented that "Everything has come together. I'm having good games and I'm managing to help the team. I'm in my best moment of the season, both physically and emotionally. Despite not having played much this season, my head has been in the right place. Now I'm getting games and I'm helping the team."
