Blanco: "We came to compete"
The interim coach reflects on the season finale
RCD Espanyol caretaker coach Luis Blanco spoke after a 0-0 draw with Granada CF, assessing the performance from his side in the season finale and also giving his opinion on the result leading to the opposition's relegation.
“We came to compete. We played with the intention of winning and we transmitted a good feeling. Perhaps we lacked a little more efficiency in the final metres. The team looked good and competitive. We signed off happy with our showing," he said.
He also pointed out that “I am happy with the match. We played well and we made Granada suffer without the ball. We thought this was a possibility that could help us win."
"In the moment in which they felt the threat of relegation, the game changed and more spaces were created. I feel bad for Granada and their fans, but we were honest and we competed."
