Blanco: " I know the team will compete wel"
The caretaker coach previews the final game of the season
RCD Espanyol caretaker coach Luis Blanco spoke ahead of the final matchday of the LaLiga season, in which his team face relegation battlers Granada.
A week on from his appointment on an interim basis, Blanco commented that the squad "have been working hard and given off a very good feeling in training. They want to win and they have shown that to me. I know the team will compete well."
He also brushed off the implication that Los Pericos have nothing to play for this Sunday, insisting that "we also have a lot at stake in terms of the table, so we are going to compete and approach the match looking to win."
Of Granada, he highlighted that "Under Aitor Karanka they have taken a step up in their intensity. I have the feeling that they are a very well-organised side and they are getting good results. The other day they were close to drawing away to Betis. We will have to play calmly and be practical in the game. We want to compete, win and play well. I hope it will be a balanced and competitive match."
"We have had three very good training sessions. My intention is to field the best players who are the most suited to this match. I want to win and the club do, too. There may be changes in the starting XI, but it will not be a revolution by any means."
