Aguado: "We need maximum humility and the utmost ambition"
The RCD Espanyol player talks about the fixtures that lie ahead
Álvaro Aguado was able to enjoy his first minutes for RCD Espanyol this past Monday in Tenerife, although bizarrely an error in the initial drafting of the minutes did not include his participation as a replacement for a teammate.
The midfielder spoke this week about the situation at the team, explaining that the defeat to the Canary Islanders is now behind them and that, after the match, the team have been focusing on preparing for the next league match.
“We weren't as good as they said when we won four games in a row, nor are we as bad as they say now. We are neither going to stay up in February nor are we going to get promoted in a month,” he commented.
"We have to keep our feet on the ground and keep going with maximum humility, but also with the utmost enthusiasm and personality that comes with representing Espanyol."
Given the trio of fixtures that the team will have in the space of a week, Aguado stated that “we are capable of playing all three games, and we must go for victory with humility and ambition as well."
Finally, he emphasised that there are very few points separating the teams in first and seventh place.
"That shows that it will be a very competitive and very long season. The team that keep their feet on the ground will be the one closest to achieving their goal.”
