4-0: A leader’s performance
RCD Espanyol continue their solid home form with victory over CD Cacareño Femenino
RCD Espanyol Femení maintained their place on top of the league as they beat CD Cacareño Femenino on Saturday.
It was Espanyol who started strongly at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, taking the lead after just six minutes when María Lara took advantage of a defensive error from outside the box, taking control before the clock had even hit double digits.
With the result in favour of Adrian González’s side, Espanyol were comfortable and particularly goalkeeper Romane Salvador only had to intervene on one occasion and did so with great shotstopping. Just before half-time, Carol Marín made it 2-0 in a killer play, the captain’s first goal of the season going into the break.
If the start of the first half was not bad, the start of the second half was sublime. Ángeles made it three just three minutes after the restart when she capitalised on another defensive error from the opposition. And not even five minutes passed until Chamorro set up Ángeles to get the fourth, well and truly putting the game beyond doubt.
A convincing display and commanding scoreline keeps Espanyol Femení on top of the Spanish second division, making it five wins out of five on home soil.
