3-1: Into the final!
RCD Espanyol's under-19s (Juvenil-A) reach the Copa del Rey Juvenil final
RCD Espanyol “Juvenil A” (under-19s) booked their place in the Copa del Rey Juvenil Final as they beat Real Oviedo on Thursday.
Javi Chica’s young pericos arrived at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere for the final four, facing up against hosts Oviedo for a place in the final. After a positive start, they took the lead after 20 minutes thanks to Lluc Castell who buried it in the bottom corner from Izan’s header to break the deadlock in the semi-final.
A quarter of an hour later, Sergi Rivarés doubled the Mágico’s advantage with a towering header, a deserved two-goal lead and in firm control of the tie. Oviedo needed to fight back and came out determined in the second half, testing goalkeeper Llorenç Serred who was successful in his stops.
When it seemed that the game was doomed, Oviedo pulled one back through Marcos López from a corner to make it a nervy end. But if one thing about Chica's boys, it is that they don't give up easily. Just a minute later substitute Uri Pallas sealed it on the break, shrugging off the defender and slotting it past the keeper.
The young pericos advance to the final, their eighth in the Copa del Rey Juvenil, where they will face RCD Mallorca this Sunday 12pm CET back at the Carlos Tartiere.
