2-1: Defeat on the islands
RCD Espanyol fall to defeat away to CE Andratx in Mallorca
RCD Espanyol fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat to CE Andratx on Sunday.
Espanyol began the game very well and would get in front quickly thanks to a goal from Roger Martínez after 12 minutes, the perfect start for the young pericos. They were comfortable and keeping the hosts away, but that would change when Andratx were awarded a penalty on the stroke of half-time, which they converted for the equaliser.
In the second half, both teams had a harder time creating dangerous chances. Espanyol were still in it but had to sustain the opposition pressure, knowing how significant a point in Mallorca would be.
However Andratx kept pushing, and in the 77th minute turned it around with a shot from inside the six-yard box that went in off the post. In the final stages, Espanyol tried with more heart than success and could not find a way to equalise in a match lost due to the small details.
