2-1: Comeback kids
RCD Espanyol overturn a first-half deficit to secure three points against Atlético Saguntino
RCD Espanyol B came from behind to beat Atlético Saguntino 2-1 on Sunday.
Though they had home advantage at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, it was an unfortunate first half for Espanyol. Without conceding even an attempt on their goal and posing a threat with many dangerous chances going forward, Manolo González's men went into the break behind due to an own goal after 12 minutes.
The match continued in similar vein in the second half, but this time, Espanyol’s good work translated onto the scoresheet. Miguel Carvalho equalised just shy of the hour mark with a great shot from the edge of the box with Kenneth Soler setting him up with a superb piece of play to beat the defender.
Espanyol were back in it and now had the momentum to go ahead, and they did exactly that with nine minutes to go through Javi Hernández’s eighth goal of the season from the penalty spot to turn the game around and secure the three points. The young pericos are now unbeaten in eight and up to 10th, continuing their rise up the table.
