RCD Espanyol B seal another win at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque against Penya Deportiva
RCD Espanyol B continued their unbeaten run with a 2-1 win at home against Penya Deportiva on Sunday.
Manolo González’s starting XI included four players who had arrived late the previous night from the men’s first team’s comeback win in Eibar. One of them would open the scoring; Ian Forns played it into Gastón Vallés who tucked it in, adding a goal after his assist for the senior squad a matter of hours earlier.
As the minutes passed, the young pericos seemed confident at the back and threatening to score at any moment when they went forward. Ahead at the break and searching for the second after the restart, they found it when Miguel Carvalho finished off the rebound from Forns’ effort to double their advantage.
In the final stretch of the match, Penya Deportiva closed the gap due to defensive error and converted to make it an open end to the encounter. However Espanyol remained more likely to score again than their opponents, and they did manage to albeit ruled out for offside at the expense of Rafa Bauza, seeing out the result and another three points.
