2-0 win against Lille continues preseason
Joselu and Puado feature on the scoresheet
Espanyol took a comfortable win against Lille in their third preseason friendly of the summer, proving to be solid in all facets of play. Los Pericos gradually took control of the encounter, and goals from Joselu and Javi Puado earned them the victory against one of Ligue 1's top sides.
Only in the opening minutes did goalkeeper Lecomte have work to do, saving an effort from Angel Gomes in an isolated chance. Diego Martínez's men soon began to control the game, with Sergi Darder in particular a standout in the midfield.
Keidi, Puado and Omar all put Lille goalkeeper to the test in the first half, with Puado going on to hit the post shortly before the break.
In the second half, the Espanyol players found another gear, and got their reward in the form of a goal. Joselu drove the ball inside the far post with a well placed shot, for his first strike of preseason.
Minutes later, Puado finished off a perfect counterattack started by Rubén, beating the oncoming Jardim.
The team's preparations for the 2022/23 season continue, with the start of the campaign just three weeks away.
