2-0: Defeat at El Sardinero
RCD Espanyol fall to defeat away to Real Racing Club in LALIGA Hypermotion
RCD Espanyol lost 2-0 on the road to Real Racing Club on Saturday.
Off the back of an important win against Levante UD but facing a tough away test at El Sardinero, Luis Miguel Ramis’ men got off to a nightmare start when Racing took the lead inside the opening minute of the match. Espanyol had two early opportunities to draw level, first Ian Forns firing just wide from range before Jofre Carreras hit the side netting.
Despite an increased period of possession and looking like they could get back into the game, the hosts doubled their advantage just shy of the half hour mark as they found a way through the Espanyol backline and struck through Peque Fernández. The Mágico were struggling and needed a big reaction to get back into the game in the second half.
A double substitution at the break did not seem to revitalise Espanyol, still unable to test the hosts though creating more chances than in the first period. Omar El Hilali and José Carlos Lazo were the closest to getting on the scoresheet, but it was not to be as Espanyol were defeated on the road in Santander.
