RCD Espanyol Femení edged out in defeat to DUX Logroño Femenino

RCD Espanyol Femení were defeated on home soil by DUX Logroño Femenino on Saturday.

Espanyol came out to dominate the match and sought to translate it into goals, and they thought they had opened the scoring through María Barquero for it to be ruled out for an apparent offside by the officials. Without the lead to show for their solid start, the hosts continued to dominate but went into the break all square.

In the second half the initial script was similar, but this time Espanyol got their just reward and Barquero her deserved goal to give the pericos the breakthrough they deserved. But their joy did not last long, as Logroño equalised barely five minutes later.

With the game level again, the visitors defended well and looked to hit Espanyol on the counter-attack, which paid off as they turned it around with 15 minutes to go. The Mágico could and should have got the equaliser, as Lice Chamorro came within inches with the last kick of the game but could not convert as Espanyol were defeated.
