1-1: Draw to open the year
RCD Espanyol B are held to a stalemate at home to CE Europa
RCD Espanyol B drew 1-1 with CE Europa on Sunday in their first game of 2024.
In the second game of the day at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, after the women’s first team were held to a 1-1 draw, the young pericos were looking to get all three points and create breathing space down from the relegation zone.
Espanyol looked very serious in the first half and had the best chances, though both teams lacked cutting edge. Javi Hernández had two good chances before, and at the third time of asking, opened the scoring with a header past the goalkeeper.
In the second half, Europa went all out, with no choice but to throw everything at the hosts for a way back into the game. And it paid off soon after, as they equalised just four minutes after the restart.
The visitors were comfortable, but with the introduction of Antoniu Roca for Espanyol, it was a tight encounter once again. However it was not enough to swing the game one way or another, as it ended honours even at the Dani Jarque.
