A goal by Gerard gives Espanyol a draw against Sporting
Espanyol added another point against Sporting de Gijón thanks to a goal by Gerard Moreno who beat Cuéllar after a tremendous pass of Baptisao. Despite the white and blue team had a good start and good chances to scores, the locals got in front before the half time with a goal by Víctor. Espanyol was forced to comeback and Quique’s boys made were able to score after the break.
Espanyol had a good start while Sporting was too nervous and wasn’t able to create clear opportunities. Only Burgui and Víctor Rodríguez were able to create some danger but without much luck. Therefore, Espanyol fet comfortable and soon Marc Navarro was close to score twice. Gerard Moreno also had a clear chance before the break. It seemed that Espanyol was close to score but it was Sporting that got in front of the scoreboard thanks to a free kick by Víctor.
Quique decided to give a chance to Baptistao and the Brazilian was determinant as he started the action of the goal. The striker assisted to his teammate Gerard Moreno who was able to score the draw. Gerard, a few minutes after, was close to get the second but Cuéllar made a great save. The two teams fought but without creating clear chances to score and decide the game.
