Caicedo gives the victory to Espanyol in a very exciting match
Espanyol has obtained a very important victory against Sevilla thanks to a goal of Felipe Caicedo in the second half after a shot of Marco Asensio that hit the post. In the first half, the white and blue team wasn’t able to generate many opportunities but things changed in the second half with good chances and finally with Caicedo’s goal. The crowd had to suffer until the end but the three points remained in the RCDE Stadium.
Galca recovered for the match Víctor Sánchez, Felipe Caicedo and Óscar Duarte, who missed the last match against Las Palmas and he also decided to play with Pau in the goal and Rober in the right back wing. Sevilla started very well the match and in the first minutes they had a few chances to score. Especially clear was one of Llorente who knocked the ball over the bar. Espanyol started to have more the ball and to have the first chances thanks to the attack on the right side by Hernán and Rober. However, the most clear opportunity didn’t arrive until the last minute of the first half with a long shot of Víctor Sánchez that went out.
Espanyol came out better in the second half and in the first minutes Víctor Sánchez hit the post with a good header. It was the first chance of the home team that soon were able to score. Caicedo found a lost ball after another shot of Marco Asensio to score the first goal of the match. There were a lot of minutes ahead and the team and the crowd were ready to suffer. Every Sevilla’s attack generated a lot of fear but fortunately none of them finished dangerously. Espanyol had good chances to score another goal, especially, after a great attack that neither Hernán, Víctor Sánchez and Gerard, who hit the post for the third time, were able to finish. Espanyol suffered until the end but the three points finally stayed in Cornellà-El Prat.
