RCD Espanyol B narrowly edged out away from home by CF Badalona Futur

RCD Espanyol B fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to CF Badalona Futur on Saturday.

Making the short trip to Badalona from the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, the young pericos faced the league leaders as they looked to push on for the play-off places. The game did not start well for Espanyol; after a first few testing minutes, Badalona Futur took the lead with the first effort of the game from range.

During the remainder of the first half, there were hardly any scoring opportunities. The clearest was a ball into the area that Rafa Bauza could not convert, leaving them behind going into the break.

In the second half, Espanyol were better but Badalona defended well and played with the comfort that the result gave them. Even so, the team had dangerous chances in the final third to equalise, but there was to be no way through. A first defeat in 10 games spanning three months is a tough blow, but next up is the visit of Lleida Esportiu.
