RCD Espanyol Femení narrowly beaten in first leg of play-off final away to CA Osasuna Femenino
RCD Espanyol Femení were narrowly beaten 1-0 by CA Osasuna Femenino in the first leg of the second division play-off final.
After eliminating SE AEM in the semi-final stage, Espanyol visited El Sadar looking to take one step closer to a return to the top flight. Osasuna pressed hard early on and hit the post, though once the visitors settled down they could begin to play their game.
Espanyol had a penalty claim for a handball turned down, as nothing could separate the sides in the first half. There were far more opportunities to break the deadlock on either side after the break, with both sides pushing but to no avail. It was in the final 10 minutes that Osasuna found the goal to give them the lead and the advantage in the tie.
The second leg will take place on Thursday 16th May at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, as a huge 90 minutes lie ahead for a place in the Liga Femenina.
