RCD Espanyol Femení overcome Athletic Club B Femenino in an important away win

RCD Espanyol Femení defeated Athletic Club B Femenino 3-0 away from home on Saturday.

Espanyol visited Lezama with the clear goal of taking all three points after three consecutive matches. The team showed that intention straight away as they took control of the match, taking the lead just before half-time as Carol Marín converted Lucía Vallejo’s to put the pericas in front going into the break.

The second half could not have started any better: in the early stages of the game, Ángeles doubled Espanyol’s lead to reinstate their control after the break. Athletic could not find a response, stunned by the visitors’ quick start and unable to test the opposition defence.

Espanyol made sure that the three points were returning to Barcelona with a third goal in the final minutes, as María Barquero found the back of the net. Next up for the women’s first team is a home encounter at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, where they will host Fundación Albacete Femenino next Sunday.
