RCD Espanyol Femení win away in the first leg of the promotion play-off semi-finals

RCD Espanyol Femení won the first leg of the Primera Federación Femenina play-off semi-finals away to SE AEM Femenino on Sunday.

Juan Ignacio Ibarra's team visited the Municipal de Recasens in the first game on the road to the top flight, and they started very well in the game with a close call in the first chance of the game. They were dominant wirg the ball and with the best opportunities to break the deadlock, with Ángeles del Álamo and Simona testing the keeper.

The second half continued in the same manner, but this time Espanyol did not waste their dominance, as Carol Marín’s shot from the edge of the box found the corner to put the visitors ahead. Two minutes later, the pericas made it two: Ángeles took advantage of a rebound from a set piece to double their advantage.

AEM tried to close the gap late on from set pieces, but Espanyol resisted and held on for a vital two-goal cushion and a clean sheet on the road. Espanyol Femení will play the return leg in three days’ time at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque (8^th May, 19:00 CEST).
