0-2: Defeat at the Dani Jarque
RCD Espanyol Femení are beaten at home by SE AEM Femenino
RCD Espanyol Femení fell to a 2-0 home loss to SE AEM Femenino on Saturday.
An early kick off at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque saw Juan Ignacio Ibarra’s side host a direct play-off rival, but it got off to a nightmare start when AEM took the lead from a mistake at the back. Espanyol were stunned and needed to react to draw level.
Goalkeeper Romane Salvador did well to keep the scoreline down with a solid save down to her bottom right corner, keeping the deficit to just one goal at half-time. Coach Ibarra made a triple change at the break, bringing on Nayadet Opazo, Núria Martínez and María Lara to try and find a way back into it.
The second half was all out attack from the pericas, knowing that they needed to go hard to find an equaliser. But AEM took advantage of their high line and hit the hosts on the counter attack, doubling their lead on 57 minutes to leave Espanyol with an uphill battle.
Salvador made a great double save in the closing stages, and although Espanyol pushed until the end, it was not to be and ended in defeat at the Dani Jarque.
