0-1: Victory across town
RCD Espanyol Femení prevail over Barcelona local rivals CE Europa Femení
RCD Espanyol Femení secured a solid 1-0 win away to CE Europa on Sunday.
Juan Ignacio Ibarra’s side made the short trip to the legendary Estadi Nou Sardenya in Barcelona with the clear intention of leaving with three points. The first half was an attacking display from the pericas, with as many as five clear chances to break the deadlock but remaining goalless at half-time.
With the scoreline unchanged, so were Espanyol in their persistence to find the back of the net, and they did so brilliantly when Ángeles de Álamo found her way in some tight space to fire the ball into the top corner first time for a deserved lead.
Hosts Europa stepped up after going behind and almost equalised instantly, but Romane Salvador did well to deny them. Espanyol were assured at the back and held on for another important win in the road back to the first tier, as they end the matchweek three points off the top.
