RCD Espanyol Femení seal three points on the road to CD Cacareño Femenino

RCD Espanyol Femení earned a vital three points away from home in a 1-0 win against CD Cacareño Femenino on Sunday.

Both teams were in need of the three points, Espanyol in the battle for promotion while Cacareño fighting for survival. An intense first half was contradicted by very few chances, with the hosts having the best attempt to no avail as the ball whizzed past the post.

Goalless at the break, Espanyol needed to push for the opening goal if they were to take anything from their away day. That goal came in extraordinary fashion, when Lucía Vallejo scored straight from the corner to give the pericas a lead which they would hang onto until the final whistle.

A very important victory for the Femení, who continue fighting for promotion and further solidify their place in the play-offs, though the ultimate goal is to win the league and be promoted back to the first division.
