Gerard scores in the last minutes to get the first victory in Vitoria

RCD Espanyol arrived to Mendizorroza with a clear objective: winning at Alavés Stadium for the first time in the history of LaLiga. An then, after 12 visits to Basque lands, Mendizorroza was conquered. 

The match began with a brave local team, leading the first chances. Kiko Femenía and Theo created some troubles on the wings.  But Espanyol scared them firstly. Jurado, with a soft touch, almost get the goal, Pacheco sent his shot to corner. Reyes also had a great opportunity; he executed an accurate free kick from the half-moon repelled by the crossbar.

On the second half, Alavés tried to throw more centres to Diego López, in fact, a goal from Deyverson was cancelled because the Brazilian footballer was offside. In spite of the Basque intentions, Espanyol controlled the match with calm. After a Jurado’s robbery, Alexis made penalty, but Pacheco saved the shot from Gerard. Hard knock.

Although, two plays later, Gerard headed a corner kick to the goal. 0-1. Redemption got. The white and blue team could hold the result to win for first time in LaLiga at Mendizorroza.
