0-1: Last-minute winner
RCD Espanyol B secure a late victory over CE Manresa thanks to Javi Hernández's winner
RCD Espanyol B earned a late 1-0 win away to CE Manresa on Sunday.
Both teams went for the opening goal with real intent early on, though it was Manresa who dominated a little more in the opening 15 minutes. Espanyol’s Javi Hernández had the clearest chance of the game when he was in on goal, but the ball was poached from his control at the final moment to keep it goalless at the break.
In the second half the pace was slower, though the young pericos persisted to find a way through right until the end. And it paid off: in the 89th minute, Roger Martínez threaded it through to Hernández to slot it home for a euphoric last-minute winner.
Now nine games unbeaten thanks to the victory in Manresa, Manolo González’s boys have gone from the relegation zone to now sitting on the verge of the Segunda RFEF play-offs, with sights firmly set on making it into the top five come the end of the season.
