0-1: Defeat at the Dani Jarque
RCD Espanyol B fall to a slim defeat at the hands of SD Formentera
RCD Espanyol B were beaten at home in a 1-0 defeat to SD Formentera on Sunday.
In the first half Espanyol were much better than Formentera, who barely had any chances at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque besides a long shot that Iker Venteo dealt with. On the other hand, the young pericos hit the bar twice, while Sergi Rivarés’ attempt came close to the post.
Just before the break Rivarés was brought down by the last man, but the referee called an offside that was controversial for those in attendance. Formentera would then take the lead after the restart, now happy to sit back and defend with the lead they had.
Espanyol kept pushing and had opportunities to draw level with Rivarés, Alejandro Gorjón and David Momoh, but they could not find a way through. The lighter note of the afternoon came with the return of Alejandro Pérez, back on the pitch after more than a year out through injury.
In the end Espanyol were not clinical enough in a game which they deserved more from, condemned to defeat at the Dani Jarque as they end the weekend in the relegation zone.
