RCD Espanyol Femení defeated Atlético de Madrid B Femenino in an important victory on the road

RCD Espanyol Femení secured an important 1-0 win over Atlético de Madrid Femenino on Saturday.

After an impressive away victory last time out over DUX Logroño Femenino, Adrián González’s side were going for back-to-back successful trips, this time in the capital. Though they had most of the ball in the first half, it was Atléti with the clearest chances.

The match changed in the second half, although as soon as the home team got going they close to taking the lead. Espanyol reacted, sending a ball in to be diverted goalbound by Lice Chamorro to take the lead and score the eventual winner in Madrid.

With this victory and the draw by title rivals Deportivo Abanca, Espanyol go top of the Spanish second flight for the time being, as the hunt for promotion continues.
