0-0: Draw at the Dani Jarque
RCD Espanyol are held to goalless draw by promotion rival Alhama El Pozo Femenino
RCD Espanyol Femení played out a 0-0 draw against Alhama El Pozo Femenino on Sunday.
In the last home game of the year, Adrián González's team hosted a direct promotion rival at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque. The first half was even, though it was Espanyol who were in charge of the match and came close through Lice Chamorro, whereas Alhama’s best chance of the first half was saved comfortably by Romane Salvador.
In the second half, Espanyol came out strong and were quick to threaten Alhama in the opening five minutes. Lice once again came close for the white-and-blue side, with her effort coming off the crossbar and not far off the opening goal. The visitors then had a clear one-on-one against Salvador, who stood strong to keep them from scoring.
Espanyol had a huge opportunity in stoppage time to seize the game, when Daniela Caracas beat the goalkeeper yet her effort came agonisingly off the bar, inches away from a late victory. It is a valuable point nonetheless, as the Femení wrap up 2023 with a trip to the capital to play Madrid CFF B Femenino next week.
