“We won thanks to the team”
Diego López doesn’t give importance to his save and considerers that the victory will give confidence to the team
His great save in the injury team helped Espanyol to achieve the second victory of the season. However, Diego López said that he only did his job and he pointed out that the triumph was thanks to the great work of the team. “I wasn’t the man of the match. I had to make a save as I am the goalkeeper. It was a competitive and difficult match. We took advantage of the corner to win the match that was going to get decide by a detail. We had an strategy action to win”, he said.
The goalkeeper has thanked the compliment of his teammates, journalists and supporters but he has insisted that it is his job. "I will try to keep contributing to the team and that people are happy with the team. I said in my presentation that I felt well. I felt very comfortable from the start. I will highlight the work of everybody: whoever plays the team is very supportive, working in a group and that makes things easier to the defenders. It is important to stay that way". The goalkeeper also believes the team has improved. "The team is trying to play, have more possession of the ball and improve. With the games to come the team will do better. Get the three points against Betis is very good for the confidence of the group: we took a major leap forward for the next matches".
For the Galician the draw against Eibar had a very positive impact on the group. "I commented that the draw would be very useful in the mental aspect. Yesterday's game, in other circumstances, would have tied or lost, but I think we believe more in our game", he said. In this regard he pointed out that "when we get in the field, we have clear ideas, the rival that we will find. The good thing is to have different game options to overwhelm opponents".
Regarding the Athletic Club, next opponent in the League, he has stated that "our idea is to play as we did against Eibar during the first 20 minutes knowing that in front we have a very tough opponent.
