“We will give everything”
Manolo González presented as RCD Espanyol men’s head coach at the Stage Front Stadium
Manolo González was presented as the new men’s first team coach of RCD Espanyol on Wednesday in a press conference at the Stage Front Stadium.
The Espanyol B coach has been promoted to the head of the first team, with the clear objective of earning promotion to the first tier. González addressed the media ahead of his first game against Real Zaragoza on Sunday, as well as delivering his first message to the fans as head coach.
González said, “We will give everything and fight until the end. I am calm, confident and trust the players’ potential. We must all united so we can do as well as we can; there is great unity in the locker room, they are very clear and aware of the situation. They are going to leave their soul out there”.
The Galician coach continued, “We have to take it week by week. I try to be a hard-working person and give confidence to players so that they are calmer when they play. I want the team to look for the goal, the game, rather and wait to see what can happen. I have not stopped to dream about promotion, but it's something I have set in mind.
“I have only thought that I am here to work and give our all to make it this way. I think we are capable of achieving it. I have shown that I am where I want to be, I am not thinking about the future. The players must respect this badge and this shirt and give everything in these 12 remaining games”.
Mao Ye, CEO of the Club, said, “We have full confidence, we are not far from where we need to be, and we have placed all our trust in the new coach”.
Fran Garagarza, Sporting Director, said, “Manolo is a Club man, he has a very defined profile and we trust him and his technical staff. We need maximum support for the new coaching staff. We are all suffering, you can see it in everyone's face. At the end of the season it will be time to self-reflect, starting with me. I also want to recognise and thank Luis Miguel Ramis and his entire team for their day-to-day work, even in these very complicated moments”.
