“We have to finish what we started”
Diop explains that now he has more options in the strategy actions
Pape Diop completed a great match against Málaga. The African midfielder scores his second consecutive goal and said that if it wasn’t for the penalty, Espanyol would have won the match. “The goals are important despite who scored them. We are in a moment that we have to finish what we started and try to save ourselves as soon as possible and try to enjoy until the end of the season to finish in the best position”, he said.
Diop has scored two goals in the last matches and he explained that “I used to have another position. I stayed in a defensive zone but in the last games the manager changed and I am one of the players who try to take advantage of these situations. I have to try to take advantage of this good spell”.
Diop also gave his opinion about the referee’s decisions in the match. “It was unfair. It wasn’t our best match but they weren’t able to create clear opportunities to say that the draw was fair. We could have won the match if it wasn’t for the penalty. Sometimes they give you points and other ones they take them from you”.
The player said that “it is always good to obtain a point when playing away despite it was a rage point because we should have won”.
Diop finished saying about Atlético de Madrid that “I don’t think the match against FC Barcelona will affect them because they have a lot of players but let’s hope that they arrived tired and thinking more in their Champion’s game than in the league. However, we have to think about ourselves to do a good match”.
