“We have to fight until the last moment to win”
Víctor Ruiz wants to build momentum after back-to-back wins ahead of the visit of SD Huesca
Having already digested last weekend's victory in Eibar, Víctor Ruiz is ready to look ahead and keep going, starting with the visit of SD Huesca on Saturday.
RCD Espanyol take on the Aragon side at the Stage Front Stadium, with their 3-2 win at Eibar sending them second in LALIGA Hypermotion. Now just three points off the top, the defender is hoping for the team to build on their momentum.
Ruiz said, “We should all calm down from the euphoria that exists from a result like this and control it well, because on Saturday there is another complicated match against an opponent in good away form and will make it difficult for us. We must remember that we have to fight until the last moment to win and get a positive result that will help us face everything that comes”,
The veteran defender, who spent his formative years at Espanyol before returning this summer, has had a season plagued by fitness problems but is now off the back of three consecutive starts where he has finished the game. The last of which was the miracle of Ipurúa, where Espanyol stole the three points in stoppage time.
Ruiz explained, “I have experienced some great comebacks but not one like that. They were moments of great joy for everyone, for the group, for the fans who travelled to support us. There were beautiful moments in the changing room and we hope there will be more throughout the season”.
