“We have to be perfect in defence”
Diego López said that R. Madrid is very dangerous and has great players
He was one of the last to arrive but he didn’t have to wait much to make his debut. Diego Lóez played last Friday his first match for Espanyol and now he may have the opportunity to play against his former team Real Madrid.
“We have to prepare the match. We know it is very important, we are playing against one of the best teams in the world and during the week you always feel extra motivation”, he said. Diego López also said that “R. Madrid has had a brilliant start. They have the same group as last year and they are playing very well. They have won their three matches clearly. They are very fast but we have our options. We know that it is very difficult to win”.
Diego López said that “we must go step by step. We have played against very good teams. We played well against Sevilla and I think we deserved the victory over Málaga. Real Sociedad was another difficult match and we have to take good conclusions. We are facing a very difficult team this Sunday but we have our options”.
“Last Friday we played well. They had the possession of the ball but they didn’t create clear opportunities. The team was firm, solid in defence and we must try to keep this level. Against Real Madrid we must be perfect in defence. It is a team that doesn’t have the same rate of possession as others but they are very fast in the transition. Madrid has great players capable of winning a match on their own”, he said.
“My teammates and the staff have made me feel very well since I arrived and it has been easy for me to adapt. I have found a young group, with a lot of intensity that is willing to win matches. Maybe we need a victory to start growing, but the feelings I received are very good”, he said.
Questioned about playing last Friday the goalkeeper said that “I said I came here to play. I will keep training hard but it is the manager who decides in the end”.
