“We have to be always the same team”
Quique Sánchez Flores says that the team has to have clear ideas and win the rivals respect
Espanyol is starting this Saturday the league. The white and blue team is facing Sevilla, one of the best teams. Quique Sánchez Flores is excited with the debut and asks the team to compete in all the stadiums.
“I want my team to have personality. We have an idea and we have to keep getting ready to compete well. We must do what we know and be ready for a match that will be very difficult. We are playing in a very difficult stadium but I think that we don’t have to change our philosophy. We have to be always the same team, be better than our rival and win the respect of the other teams”, he said. Quique said that “we are in the right path but we can’t cut the deadlines. I don’t think the teams achieve the goals in the first three months. It is a very long way. We are facing a very hard season ant to achieve our aims. We don’t have to distract ourselves and we have to show us as a solid squad”.
About Sevilla, he said that “they have an incredible team. They have players for every position and every season they have a better squad. They have an incredible bench. Sampaoli is a manager that likes to be intense. He is building a new team and despite the results against Madrid and Barcelona haven’t been the best we are talking about two of the best teams in the world”. The manager said that “it is a very dangerous team that competes very well and has overcome difficult situations”.
Quique also talked about what he expects this season. “We have to be ambitious but realistic. There are a few teams better than us and we need to improve. We have players from last season that know the club, the team and that are very useful for us. They have learnt a lot of things and I think that is the way to improve”.
“I came here with the idea that it was a great club and I have liked a lot the capacity of the players to learn new things. There are a lot of people that want to work and situate Espanol where it deserves”.
Finally he said that “we need more players in the back. We need our players to compete better and we have to increase is the level”.
