“We have never underestimated any rival”
Espanyol will try to qualify for the next round against Alcorcón
Quique Sánchez Flores has put the end point to the controversy after his statements praising Leo Messis. “I don’t want anybody to feel disgusted due to something I did. I felt frustrated after the reactions and if I had caused any deception to our supporters I apologize because I didn’t want it. I feel terrible sorry and the only thing I want is to defend Espanyol’s interests”, he said.
After his opening statement, the manager has focused on the Cup match against Alcorcón. “We know that the Cup is difficult. Only yesterday Málaga lost to a Second Division and there are always surprises. We can’t be confident because the result is not clear. We want to do a good match for our supporters”, he said. The manager said that he wouldn’t introduce as many changes as in the first match. “We know it will be a rival that will give us a lot of problems and we have never underestimated any rival. They put us in a lot of trouble in the first match but we still have to play 90 more minutes”, he said.
After half a year, Quique thinks that the team has achieved important goals. “We have connected with the supporters. They know that we are able to achieve good things. We have an excellent group, it will take some time and when we get to the top we want to stay”, he said.
