“We have lost two points”
Luis Miguel Ramis reflects on a goalless draw at home to SD Huesca
RCD Espanyol coach Luis Miguel Ramis is clear that Saturday’s goalless draw with SD Huesca is an opportunity missed in the fight for automatic promotion.
A 0-0 draw at the Stage Front Stadium keeps Espanyol second for the time being, though depending on the results to be played around them in the table. They missed out on the chance to earn a third straight win, as the Catalan coach reflected on the stalemate.
Ramis said, “We wanted to get the three points, we are in a position that has cost us a lot to reach. We have lost two points, we wanted all three. Next week we will go to Alcorcón to win and allow us to take bigger steps and establish ourselves in that position that we all want to be in”.
He continued, “It was a close game with few chances. We tried to correct it in the first half because we were rushing the game from out the back. In the second half we did better and needed more imbalance to look for individual situations. We managed to create three very clear scoring chances, but we didn’t take them and that happens”.
Espanyol now play back-to-back away games, starting with the trip to Alcorcón next week before facing Real Zaragoza in two weeks’ time. Ramis concluded, “We will demand more from the team, we will not stop for even a second. We take a point of work and we will try to demand more, of course”.
