“We had a good game”
Luis Miguel Ramis is pleased with the team's job in securing the win against CD Mirandés
RCD Espanyol men’s first team coach Luis Miguel Ramis acknowledged the team’s strong performance in the 3-0 win over CD Mirandés on Saturday.
Ramis said, “It was good and, overall, we had a good game. We created chances, we dominated and we didn't struggle defensively. At 1-0 up we had to work to increase our lead. We worked well in the game and we got it right in the opposition area, which gave us a lot of peace of mind”.
Espanyol prevailed thanks to a Martin Braithwaite brace and a first goal from Álvaro Aguado, as they move up to third in the LALIGA Hypermotion table. The win was also their third in a row at the Stage Front Stadium, where the Mágico boast the best home record in the league.
Ramis continued, “The players worked well in the game. We always try to find the goal that gives us peace of mind. The draw would not have been deserved, but it could have happened and then we took advantage of our chances. In the second half we finished off the team's good work. We took the game forward by doing things very well. We are eager to make the fans feel good from the pitch”.
Next up is a crucial away trip to SD Eibar on Saturday, who sit in second and two points ahead of Espanyol. A win would see Ramis’ men overtake their opponents into the automatic promotion spot, while picking up a much-needed victory on the road.
The coach concluded, “The team worked very well and we needed this result. We will work to prepare for the game against Eibar and this situation gives us confidence. We look, week after week, for the turning point that will give us points, confidence and position us at the top”.
