Nico Melamed is delighted to be back from injury with his substitute appearances last week

Perhaps one of the happiest players at La Romareda was Nico Melamed, back after five months with a vital victory on Sunday.

Melamed said, “I had a very bad time not being able to enjoy football, my profession, but I'm back and happy to be with the team to achieve the goal. The fans’ support was further proof that we have an incredible fan base and that, with this support, we are stronger. We have to continue like this until the end because we are stronger together”.

The Espanyol number 21 has been out of action for almost half a year after a recurring injury forced him to undergo an operation in November. Melamed came off the bench in the 1-0 win against Real Zaragoza, playing in the final half hour of the match.

He continued, “The Club and the team deserve to be at the top and we want to be there until the end. All the teams are very close together in the table and any mistake punishes you, so we have to reduce them. But we also have to make the most of our personality and leave nothing undone”.
