“To win we must be intense”
Baptistao admits that the team has to improve but points out that they are in the good line
The last matches against Real Madrid haven’t been very positive for Espanyol. However the manager Quique Sánchez Flores and the new signings like Leo Baptistao say that they have to forget what happened in the past and be positive.
“Despite we play R. Madrid or not, we are looking forward to the match because we want our first victory. It is a nice match; we are preparing it well, because if we want to win we must be intense because it is a very difficult match. We have to attack with a lot of players, be together and search for spaces. We are trying to arrive in the best conditions to the match and be connected. We know we must be structured and play as a solid squad. We have to forget about the last matches”, he said.
Baptistao invite his teammates to forget about previous matches. “We don’t think in previous matches. The manager told us that we have to forget and think about our present; we can’t let the pass influence us. We must play our football and go all in the same direction. We have a very united group, it looks like we have been together for years and we are improving in every way". Baptistao said that “we have to analyze how we are playing. We have done good matches, good numbers, we have scored and we are happy with the work done but we know we must improve”. The Brazilian striker said "Real Madrid is one of the best teams in the world. Having the option to win a big team is always good. If we win, our self confidence will change”.
Baptistao, top scorer in the preseason, said that he is not worried after not scoring in any of the first three matches. “I don’t put pressure on me and I am not obsessed I know goals will arrive if I keep working and I put my effort. Anyway, while my teammates are able to score and the team can win, I am happy”.
