“This match will be crucial for our future”
Quique Sánchez Flores insists that the team wants to keep growing
Espanyol closes the first round of the League against Granada with the goal of winning the three points against a team that has improved in the last weeks. After the defeat against Valencia, Quique Sánchez Flores hopes that Espanyol goes back to their best version.
“Any match is ideal scenery to win. We didn’t like our last match and we don’t have to repeat it. We wanted to play as soon as possible to try to improve and see that it was an accident. We can make mistakes but not repeat them. We know that it is a match that will be important for our future in the competition. We have to change what we saw in Valencia”, he said. Quique added that “we have always sent a message of passion. It was the worst match of the season. It hurt us to lose without putting passion. There is nothing worse that disappoint our supports but we can’t doubt of this team. It only happened once”.
“We want more. Our idea is to grow. The first round is finishing and this match is going to tell us where we are going to be. We have to fight back against situations we don’t like. All matches are difficult and all rivals can put you in trouble. Granada is a very tough team, that has a lot of alternative options and that has put in trouble big teams in the league. No match has been easy for us”.
“Our feelings are that we are growing. We wanted to control some things and we do now. We have to have clear in what things we have grown and what can be bettered. We are far from being a solid project”, he said.
