“My goal is to defend well”
Diop said that Espanyol tried “in front a rival that, for me, is the best team defending in the world”
Pape Diop didn’t leave happy RCDE Stadium. His goal, the third in a row and all of them with the head, wasn’t enough for Espanyol to add a good result. The Senegalese midfielder would have preferred that a team mate had scored the goal in exchange for, at least, a point. “Before I didn’t go to top off. I used to be in a defensive zone, but now I am going forward and it is turning well”.
Thre goals in a row, the three headers and the three from a corner kick. “My goal is to defend well, give good passes to my team mates, give balance and help. If I am able to score is a plus, but nothing else”. What he does have clear is that “my favourite one is last Saturday’s because I am faster than my defender and I had to turn my head a lot. It became perfect”.
Diop said that in front we had “a rival that takes a lot of advantage of your mistakes and if they are able to get ahead the score board is the team that better defends in the world”.
About next game against Levante he said that “we are not far of closing our goal of the permanency. We must go to win. It IS a very difficult stadium. It is a good defensive team and the try to take profit of their options. I prefer to get 42 points to be calm”.
