“Leganés competes very well”
Quique Sánchez Flores thinks that the team plays less anxiously
Espanyol faces another chance to win their first match of the season at the RCDE Stadium. The manager Quique Sánchez Flores hopes that the white and blue team obtains the first three points of the season at home.
Quique Sánchez Flores said that Leganés is a team that “competes very well. They have adapted very well to the First Division and they are the fourth best visitor of the league. They have done good things against difficult teams. We have studied Leganés, we respect our rival and it will be a mistake to underestimate them: they have very clear ideas and they use their tools in the adequate moment. It is a team that takes a lot of advantage of the rival mistakes, that likes to play long and they will force us to be very concentrated in defence”.
The manager said that we want to win for our supporters. “Our goal is to become competitive, that we connect with our supporters and repeat the things we like. We are facing the match with happiness, enthusiasm… Each match is a challenge and we want to convert it in something positive. Tomorrow we must win, but we don’t like to pressure us”, he said.
Quique Sánchez Flores said that the team is controlling their anxiety. “The team has left that anxiety. It is part of the process. Part of our improvement is that we are playing like we want: with more happiness than sadness, more emotion than pressure and that is how the teams become competitive”.
The manager said that “when we have started we have tried to be balanced and try to win at home and away. Changes take a while and normally it is easier to be anxious at home. I start seeing things that make me confidence. We are conscious about how difficult is to do changes and there are matches that can put you in other dynamic. Therefore, for us, all the matches are relevant and important. We have to show passion, but be clever as well as intelligent”.
Sánchez Flores also said that the number of points “are in line with what is a normal start. We have obtained important results, we have finished two or three games disappointed, but we always competed with enthusiasm”.
