“It is an important match for us”
Quique Sánchez Flores expects a very different match compared to the one on Saturday
Two days after the defeat against Atlético de Madrid, Espanyol is focus in the next match against Sporting de Gijón. Quique Sánchez Flores, the white and blue manager, said that it is a very important match for Espanyol.
“It is a very important match for us. We want to make a good end of season and we have to keep insisting on the goals. We have teams ahead of us and behind us that are not far. We want to aspire to the top; that is our goal. We are playing a lot and I expect a match similar to the one against Leganés”
“It is a team that adapts to the circumstances. They run well if you give them field, they handle well the ball, has good players, have several records. Sporting adapts according to how the game goes and we will try to manage the match”, he said.
“Sporting is a rival that wants to avoid relegation. It is a more expert team, we play in a stadium where fans are on top of the players. It is a complicated, complex match and if we want to grow as a group we have to know how to change mentalities. We are going from playing against Atlético de Madrid to playing against Sporting; they are different matches."
“No one can take away from us is the feeling of happiness we have. We have done well, enjoyed much and suffered little. The feeling of growth is important, but we want more. We have had very few similar matches throughout the season and that means that we are growing, adjusting... We continue looking, finding ourselves but we still do not have the absolute reliability”, he said.
