“It’s time for me to work harder than ever”
Gastón Valles is keen to continue his development during the final stage of the season
Gastón Valles says that he has adapted well and is gaining confidence, speaking ahead of Sunday’s game against FC Andorra.
He said, “I am aware that I must keep giving my all, and now it is time for me to work harder than ever. It is not easy, I have to build confidence as I know I still have a lot of room for improvement, but I am on the right track. Being able to train every day with the men’s first team is helping prepare me to be able to compete with them”.
The young Uruguayan striker has established himself in the senior setup since his dream debut away to Eibar, where he assisted the winning goal in the 3-2 victory. He now has six appearances for Espanyol to his name, including his first start away to Leganés last time out.
Gastón continued, “You have to be very focused and very involved in training. It has been quite the change; I come from a very humble team and this is a privilege, starting with the fans who are very welcoming. Everything is top class. I am a little nervous when I am on the pitch, but you end up enjoying it and the incredible atmosphere”.
